From the 22nd of July, Grand Hotel will become one of our central venues and present artistic interventions, events and exhibitions.   

Manifesta 14 Prishtina will explore storytelling and reclaiming public spaces. Indeed, there’s no better place than Grand Hotel to showcase the history of Kosovo.

Manifesta, the European Nomadic Biennial, comes to Prishtina, Kosovo with a 100-day programme of art, performances, events and workshops with the goal of empowering citizens to reclaim public space.

performances and events!

The Official Opening Ceremony will take place

22.07.2022 | 19- 23 pm

on the plateau of the Palace of Youth and Sports.

There will be speeches, a special performance by Jungle by Night, a gift from the city of Amsterdam, as well as live performances by Prishtina All Stars, a selection of Prishtina’s finest singers and performers presenting a medley of songs that define the sound of the city. They will play songs from different genres and different generations, a performance that spans over 40 years of music in the city.

Visitors can arrive from 18.45. Drinks and snacks are available to purchase.

To overcome the breakup with Alma Mahler, the painter Oskar Kokoschka ordered a life-size doll. In 1918 she became his permanent companion until she found her end during a drunken night. One hundred years later, Gloria Benedikt and Krisztián Gergye explore the psychological mechanisms of the famous amour fou and end up on a journey through European cultural history, which leads to questions that are as relevant today as they were then. Are we all dolls? And can we prevent being manipulated?

Um die Trennung von Alma Mahler zu verarbeiten, bestellte Oskar Kokoschka im Jahre 1918 eine lebensgroße Puppe, die seine ständige Begleiterin wurde und vermutlich in einer feuchtfröhlichen Nacht ihr Ende fand. Hundert Jahre später erforschen Gloria Benedikt und Krisztián Gergye die psychologischen Mechanismen der berühmten amour fou und begeben sich auf eine Reise durch die europäische Kulturgeschichte, welche sie zu Fragen führt, die heute so relevant wie damals sind. Sind wir alle Puppen? Können wir verhindern, dass wir manipuliert werden?

Die Premiere fand am 13. September 2015 im Palast der Künste (Mupa, Budapest) im Rahmen des von Ivan Fischer initiierten Bridging Europe Festivals in Kooperation mit dem Österreichischen Kulturforum Budapest statt. Von 2016 bis 2021 folgten Vorstellungen bei Festivals in Szeged, Köszeg, Györ, Szombathely, Gheorgheni, Veszprem, Miskolc und Sarajevo, sowie mehrere Wiederaufnahmen im Müpa auf Einladung des Hungarian National Dance Theaters. Im Odeon wird das Stück nun zum ersten Mal in Österreich gezeigt.

Die ukrainische Lyrikerin und Dramatikerin Lyuba Yakimchuk liest zeitgenössische Reflexionen über die Liebe in Zeiten des Krieges. Die Deutsche Übersetzung wird von Nour Barakeh gelesen.
