In Metamorphosis we see an extensive selection of work

by James Welling that gives tangible form to the fundamental changes in photography in recent decades. The exhibition covers the period from the early 1970s to the present, showing Wellings’ series of photos, video and sculptural work and early paintings. This presentation offers an insight into the interrelated make-up of the oeuvre, with new work looking back to existing series in an attempt to examine the possibilities of his visual production. The exhibition is being organised in association with Kunstforum Wien in Austria.

On the occasion of the publication of the very last issue of the artists’ magazine GAGARIN the Artists in their Own Words, its founder Wilfried Huet is creating a group exhibition at S.M.A.K.

The String Traveller is a presentation of work by fourteen artists who have made a contribution to GAGARIN or who share its idiosyncrasies.
